RustDesk installation

Windows installation

Installing RustDesk on Windows can be done using the following steps (Windows 10 shown in the examples below):

1) Navigate to the https://rustdesk.com/ website and click on the Download button:

2) Select the latest release version from the GitHub page that pops up. In this example, we will be using version 1.4.4 and selecting the x86-64 (64-bit) EXE, which is the first link in the Windows column.

3) After the installer has downloaded, open it. You may be prompted by Microsoft Defender notifying you that it is an unrecognized app. Click on More Info:

4) Click on Run Anyway:

5) At this point, RuskDesk main screen should pop up. However, this is still not the full RustDesk version and requires further installation. Click on the Install banner in the left hand side column (in pink):

6) The Installation dialog will pop up. Here, we will be using the default settings. Click “Accept and install”:

7) After the installation has completed, we are back on the main screen of the RustDesk software. We will now need to click on the Settings button (three lines in the top right corner) to set up the server:

8) Click Network and then click Unlock network settings. A confirmation dialog may pop up asking you to confirm whether you're trying to make changes. Once that is done, click on the ID/Relay server:

9) In the ID/Relay server window, enter the following:

Click OK.

10) Back on the main screen of the software, you may see the “Service in not running” message at the bottom of the screen. In this case, click the Start Service button:

11) The “Ready” message indicates that the server setup has been completed successfully:
